Very cool! What is the history behind the sleeping lady?

She’s actually called The Mud Maiden and was created in the Victorian ornamentation fashion to enhance the woodland walk experience.
She was created in 1998 by Sue Hill & her brother Pete.
A children’s book, published 2005, is told from the Mud Maiden’s POV and is available on Amazon ‘The Mud Maid: A story of Heligan’.
I can’t find anything more interesting about her, but she could inspire a few stories I’m sure.

I’m going to go look that book up now. I love stories that connect to something real. How cool they created the Maiden for ornamentation and then it inspired a book.

I learnt some interesting facts looking up the Mud Maiden and I’ve ordered a copy of the book. Maybe I’ll review it in a future post and try and give it some exposure.
