Visions of Zarua by @rogersonsm #fantasy epic with a twist #Bookreview

Day 9 of the blog tour finishes with a Q& A session and a very cleverly put together book review by Barb Taub. Enjoy.

It sucks to be the Chosen One… I like tropes. They are a wonderful shorthand that tells us immediately what’s going on. Take the fantasy sub-genre sword & sorcery, for example. You …

#BookReview: “Visions of Zarua” by Suzanne Rogerson #sundayblogshare

What a wonderful way to enjoy Day 7 of Visions of Zarua’s blog tour, with a fantastic review.

Visions of Zarua Book Cover

Every fantasy lover should be reading this book! Paddren, Varnia, and Leyoch have been friends since childhood. Paddren has been training to be a wizard under the tutelage of Kalesh. Varnia is the huntmistress for Baron Harkai, having been trained by Reaun, who took her in after her parents’ death. Leyoch is an assistant to Paddren and Kalesh, and madly in love with Varnia. But the day the Nagra appears will change everything….

Suddenly Kalesh is dead and Paddren is appointed to replace him as the Baron’s wizard. Reaun loses an arm in the battle with the Nagra and Varnia must take over all his duties. And Leyoch embarks on the secret mission that Kalesh had been preparing him for. After Leyoch successfully uncovers a secret organization of evil wizards, all 3 find themselves running for their lives while using all their skills to take down the organization and destroy…

Weekend wanderings – Bodiam Castle, Sussex #photos

I thought I’d take a break from the blog tour and instead have a wander around Bodiam Castle in Sussex. The ruins are well preserved and still a beautiful example of a moated castle.

P1020428 (2)

It’s strange to be looking back at these photos of Bodiam Castle today, as its my wedding anniversary and this trip was during our honeymoon. We had a 4 month old baby and a toddler, so a holiday abroad wasn’t possible. It was a wonderful honeymoon all the same, perfect for a writer who loves everything medieval (and my husband liked the fish!).

I have so many photos, it’s hard to pick my favourites. This next one makes me smile, my curly haired little boy chilling with his dad.

Now lots of random shots.

A mystery we’ve yet to solve – what do these tiles symbolise? – found on the floor, on the wall and up in the tower.

The last visit a couple of years ago was during the summer holidays, when my son and daughter took part in a knight and princess workshop. They had great fun, and I got to soak up a bit of medieval magic as I watched the people in costumes and wandered around the camp they had set up around the castle.

This weekend wander was inspired by a question from Faith on day 4 of the blog tour. See her interviewing me here, along with her review of Visions of Zarua.

Now back to the blog tour. Click the image below if you want to find out more.

Visions of Zarua Blog Tour | Review & Interview

On day 4 of the blog tour, I’m pleased to share Faith’s brilliant review of Visions of Zarua and my interview.

Happy Thursday everyone 🙂

Hope everyone’s been having a wonderful week! Today, it is my privilege and honour to host Suzanne Rogerson on Day 4 of her Visions of Zarua blog tour!

Today, I have an interview with Suzanne as well as a review of her novel to share! So sit back and enjoy!

First, let me introduce Suzanne to you all:

2015 author photo 2015.jpgSuzanne lives in Middlesex, England with her hugely encouraging husband and two children.

She wrote her first novel at the age of twelve. She discovered the fantasy genre in her late teens and has never looked back. Giving up work to raise a family gave her the impetus to take her attempts at novel writing beyond the first draft, and she is lucky enough to have a husband who supports her dream – even if he does occasionally hint that she might think about getting a proper job…

Blog Tour begins & Shortlist news for Visions of Zarua!

I’m so happy to say that the blog tour for Visions of Zarua has begun. It’s been weeks in the planning with many highs and lows along the way. The highs have been speaking with so many fantastic bloggers, while the lows have centred around my lack of computer skills and inability to get the files to do what I want them to.

Here’s a taste of the picture quotes I’ve put together;

cathy - pyre picture quote

Thanks to Cathy for kicking off the tour. See her post here.

And thanks to Wendell for setting up my first ever Rafflecopter giveaway here.

And now for my other news – Visions of Zarua has been shortlisted in a novel writing competition!!! I got the news this morning and I’m so happy. It will be a nervous wait to see who the final winners are later this year.

I’ve also entered Visions into the SPFBO – Self Published Fantasy Blog off competition organised by the wonderful Mark Lawrence. It’s in it’s second year and received 300 entries. That’s 300 other fantasy authors I’m up against, though we are split into groups of 30 in the beginning. Each book reviewer must go through their 30 and choose 3 to put through to the next round. I’m trying not to obsessively check the status of my group, and at least this blog tour will take my mind off things for a while. Here’s to a great blog tour…
