I recently ran a poll on twitter to determine whether an author should have different names if they write in different genres.
It was an interesting experiment and I’m very happy the results fit with my plans to publish both fantasy and romance under the same name.
Here is the results poll…
4 people out of 20 prefer an author to have different names when they publish in different genres, whilst 7 people suggest the same name is fine. With 9 out of 20 people happy with either option, I take that as a successful result for using the same name.
So hopefully very soon, Suzanne Rogerson will be an indie author of both fantasy and romance books. I will be back soon with more news.
Thanks very much to those who have voted and commented. If you still want to have your say, please reply to this post. I’d love to know your thoughts.

Great poll! And as a multi-genres author who publishes under the same name, I’m happy to see the results. Of course if I ever wrote erotica, I would definitely change my name. 🙂

It’s great to hear from a multi-genre author using the same name. Thanks for commenting and I wish you every success in your chosen genres.
P.S I think I’d feel the same about publishing erotica.

Thanks, Cat. I did actually start a spy thriller with a writing friend in 2020, but we are a long way off doing anything with it!

Wow, that sounds interesting! 🙂 If I remember I think Dan Alatorre is an example of someone with multiple genres under the same name, plus if it interests you I just found out that a book I just received has an author who changes her first name when writing different books for teens, vs adults, etc. She’s Caroline Green, but also publishes as Cass Green or CS Green. So that’s an alternative that doesn’t go too far from the original name, if you ever want to try it. 🙂
