Day 9 & 10 finale of Silent Sea Chronicles Blog tour #fantasy #yafantasy #bookreview #99p series

This is the final day of the blog tour for Silent Sea Chronicles. Both books have received some wonderful reviews and here are a few more quotes I’d like to share from days 9 and 10.

J Bronder Book Reviews – A double review of book 1 and 2

The Lost Sentinel – ‘I loved this world and how it was written without a huge info dump. I loved the concept of twisting people’s beliefs of magic users into fear to control… I think this is a great start to a new series. I am very curious to see what happens in the next book and recommend anyone that likes fantasy stories to check this book out.’

The Sentinel’s Reign – ‘I really like how those raveled frayed endings from the first book are wrapped together and some of my questions answered. We find an end to one conflict but so many more waiting to strike in the shadows… This is a great series and one that any fantasy lover will enjoy. Now I can’t wait to read the last book, Sentinel’s Alliance to see how this finally ends.’

M M Cheryl Book Blog – ‘This is the second part of an intriguing high fantasy series with a compelling premise and characters. Rogerson delivers a solid read, which isn’t always easy when it comes to the genre. I am enjoying the read so far and look forward to the third book in the series, the Sentinel’s Alliance.’

Jess Bookish Life – ‘I’m still very intrigued by the magical aspect of this fantasy world and I do love to figure things out and learn about the rule (societal, cultural and magical) when dealing with a fantasy genre novel. So it’s always good when the author gives the readers some bits and pieces of information as then go deep into the series or world building. In that sense, this novel brings some extra stuff to us… Over all, love the book. If you like fantasy novels, you should check this out.’

Just Books – ‘Suzanne Rogersons world building and descriptive writing ensured that, once again, I could always see where in the world I and the characters were… I have become attached to many of the characters within the pages of the Silent Sea Chronicles and am looking forward to reading the final instalment.’

Mai’s Musings – ‘…Her vivid descriptions make me wish I could pay a visit to the Silent Sea and meet the inhabitants of Kalaya and Stone Haven in person… I enjoyed getting to know the characters better this time around, and really understanding what made some of them tick, finding out why they acted the way they did. For more than one this meant a major change of opinion about them, and my favourite characters were constantly changing. I found my emotions wildly bouncing from joy, to heartbreak, to triumph and everything in between as the story unfolded around them, and lives were changed forever.’

It’s great to end the tour with a bang!

Happy Book Birthday to The Sentinel’s Reign – 1 today! #fantasy #99p #99c

What a wonderful day to celebrate the book birthday of book 2 in my Silent Sea Chronicles trilogy – The Sentinel’s Reign.

ebook pic

The year has flown by whilst I’ve been writing the third installment and preparing for publication of The Sentinel’s Alliance next week. It’s amazing to think that a little idea of a character lost in the woods and found by two strangers has become a 1000+ page trilogy = 380k+ words.

I have to admit I’m feeling a little lost myself now the trilogy is complete. I have lots of plans for future books within the Silent Sea Chronicles and other books to complete, but it’s always a struggle to let go and settle into something new.

I’ve been busy all week sharing reviews for books 1 and 2 in the series, so this is just a quick post to celebrate the birthday and remind you that all the books in the trilogy are only 99p at the moment.

Keep an eye out for more reviews coming in during the last two days of the blog tour. I’ll just share the one quick quote from a recent review on Goodreads by Jessica Belmont as it deals with something every writer of trilogies must fear…

‘What I love about The Sentinel’s Reign is that it doesn’t struggle from “middle book syndrome.” The plot is great, the characters are developing, and this doesn’t feel like just a bridge from book one to book three!’

The books have picked up so many wonderful quotes during the blog tour and I would love to share them all. Why not check them out on Goodreads and Amazon on the links below.

Finally, I’ll end with a plea. According to an increasing number of reviewers this trilogy is worth reading. If you are considering it and would like to help out a struggling author then please buy it now. I would love to make an impact when book 3 comes out on 6th July. And of course, if you have read it, those reviews you share on Amazon and Goodreads are like gold dust. I want to run a Bookbub ads soon and the more reviews I have the better my chances of being accepted.

Thanks for reading and enjoy your weekend.

The Lost Sentinel        The Sentinel’s Reign        The Sentinel’s Alliance.

The whole series can be yours for only £2.97, less than the cost of one book at its usual price!

Day 8 – Silent Sea Chronicles blog tour #fantasy The Sentinel’s Reign book 2

Today the reviews are all focused on Book 2 in the Silent Sea Chronicles – The Sentinel’s Reign. I’m really pleased to share some great reviewer quotes with you. Please click on the link to read the full reviews.

image

K T Robson – ‘What a fantastic continuation from book one, The Lost Sentinel! All the in depth world building, along with all the lovable (And not so lovable) characters have been carried across seamlessly, allowing us to get to know all our favourites even better than before. Not to mention all the descriptions of the lands, easily adding Kalaya into my list of fictional places I would love to visit – Just preferably when there’s not a war waging!’

Terror Tree – ‘All I can say is what a read and even after finishing this book, I am still thinking of the rollercoaster of a story…

After reading The Lost Sentinel, I was invested in these character’s lives and as before, beware of heartbreak. There were times that I was in mourning and then as I was continuing the story, I wanted to fist pump the air. This story will flip your emotions and as the story intensifies with the pending danger, I could not put this book down. As I finished this story I felt physically drained as if I had been there following them all.’

Splashes Into Books – ‘The story continues with many of the same characters and some new ones. I’m going to try not to give any spoilers away, so won’t discuss exactly what happens, enough to say this story continues with several different threads skilfully interwoven to create a developing, complex picture involving threats of war, magic, strangers, dangers, death and romance… It is an intriguing action packed magical adventure and a great addition to the series!’

The whole series can be yours for only £2.97! Can you resist it at this bargain price?

Day 7 of Silent Sea Chronicles Blog tour #fantasy #bookreview organised by @rararesources

Here comes some reviews today for The Sentinel’s Reign…

Seans book reviews – ‘This series is great and I just love to see what has happened from the first book to the second you see the growth of Tei who is the star of the show.’

Radzy writes – ‘It’s obvious the author has carefully plotted this series and put in many hours, to the point where I’m stunned this series hasn’t exploded to a mainstream audience yet. It’ll happen, and if you’re on the fence as to whether you should keep going with the series, the answer is yes. Continue, and then shout at all your fantasy loving friends to check this out as well.  …I should say somewhere however, that you don’t need to be an avid fantasy reader to enjoy this. It’s magical realism, and the undercurrent of fantasy is subtle enough, that even your fans of general epics will get a real kick out of this. It’s genre’d right, and is absolutely fantasy, but it’s not High, nor Paranormal.’

And a mid-read review on The Lost Sentinel

Writing with wolves – ‘…the world-building in this book feels super unique to me… I love that we get to experience three different parts of this world but my favourite is of course the exiled land of Kalaya; I love the tunnel system & the feeling of magic that flows out of the book during the scenes set in that part of the world. The island that Farrell lives on also intrigues me though & I’m excited to learn more about it as the story progresses.’

***

I just want to say a quick thank you to all the reviewers who have taken the time to read and review my books. I really appreciate your help reaching more readers. And of course a special thank you to Rachel for organising everything.

There are still three days to go on the tour so I hope you can join me for more quotes. I will just ask if these reviews have caught your interest, please consider picking up the trilogy for only £2.97. And of course, I’d love to see your reviews on Amazon and Goodreads.

Thanks very much.

Day 6 recap Silent Sea Chronicles #blogtour #fantasy #bookreview

This is a quick recap of the reviews that came in on Day 6 of the blog tour.

A couple of new reviews for The Lost Sentinel

Mai’s Musings – ‘The Lost Sentinel is a rich storyline told from various viewpoints, and as I tried to work out how these would all intertwine over the course of the books, I found I was asking more and more questions, and reading faster and faster. It is the sort of book that you want to read slowly so it doesn’t end, but at the same time you can’t help but race through.’

The Treasure Within Blog – ‘Tei is a resilient character, but not a perfect person, by any means. She makes numerous mistakes and bad choices, and is forced to deal with the consequences of her actions. It’s refreshing to read a character who’s author really wasn’t afraid to supply with flaws – and it makes Tei feel much more realistic overall. In the writing world, a very focused- on fact is the necessity of providing characters with flaws – and I think Suzanne Rogerson has done a stellar job of it.’

The Sentinel’s Reign – book 2 in Silent Sea Chronicles also hit the spotlight with reviewers.

Jessica Belmont – ‘What I love about The Sentinel’s Reign is that it doesn’t struggle from “middle book syndrome.” The plot is great, the characters are developing, and this doesn’t feel like just a bridge from book one to book three!’

PageFarer Book Blog – ‘I said in my last review that Rogerson is good at writing bad guys; this is still the case but another thing to add to that is the depiction of injustice – something that always gets to me in the real world, and the unfairness of which I found was genuinely affecting me at times.’

The Treasure within – ‘A small character from the first book was picked up again in this narrative, and expanded into a more main member of the cast. She was honestly one of my favourites throughout the book – a young but powerful magic-wielder, with uncanny senses and the kindest of hearts. She stole my heart, and I hope to read more of her in the third book!’

Thanks very much to the reviewers on this tour, you’ve made this last week awesome!

Day 5 Silent Sea Chronicles #fantasy #blogtour #bookreview quotes

A little late, but here are the links to some great reviews The Lost Sentinel received yesterday during the 10 day blog review tour.

On the shelf reviews – ‘If you love fantasy with intricate world building and a good old fashioned quest at its core then I think this is a book you would really enjoy.’

Just Books – ‘The world building and visual descriptions were amazing, I could always see the surroundings in my mind, whether it was the barren island of Stone Haven or the wonderful home of the ‘exiles’ in the mountains.’

Bookworm for kids – ‘…it was an exciting read, and I have no doubt that fantasy fans will enjoy getting lost in this world and will look forward to reading the rest of the series.’

Day 3 & 4 Silent Sea Chronicles blog tour #fantasy #bookreview #indieauthor

I’m really pleased to share some more review quotes today. I didn’t get around to sharing anything yesterday so this combines day 3 & 4.

Silent Sea Chronicles Full Tour Banner

Firstly, this is a re-post of an older review and not part of the tour, but I had to include it anyway!  Strawberry Post – ‘Overall this is an amazing and gripping fantasy read… The world of Kalaya is rich and dark and I’m amazed at how sucked into the action I was reading this, and how unpredictable and dark the storyline is.’

Pagefarer Book Blog – ‘…Rogerson’s world-building and ability to weave separate storylines is capable – indeed, multiple viewpoints seems to be part of her M.O.’ ‘…stylistically she paints it all with an economy that allows the reader to meet her in the middle, and invest more in the world and characters she has created…’

Oddsocksandlollipops – A double review for books 1 & 2 ‘…I am loving this series so far! It’s got so many things I love, fierce female characters, magic and some really unexpected plot twists…’

Yesmoreblogs – Another double review split over these two blog posts below.

The Lost Sentinel – ‘I would give this book a 5/5 I fell in  love with it from the start. The world building is really well written. It feels like you’re in the book with these amazing characters and on the beautiful island of Kayala.

The Sentinel’s Reign – ‘I literally read this book straight after the first book and its just as good if not better. I can’t wait for the final book to be released to see how this trilogy will end. This book left a pretty much open ending which has literally had me on the edge of my seat and making me want more. I’ve been constantly thinking about what could happen in the third book. If you can’t tell I’m a bit excited to read it.’

Jess Bookish Life – ‘…one things I absolutely loved, besides the realism that some characters had, was the world building. This fictional fantasy world was so vivid in my mind thanks to all the descriptions. Overall, this is a fantastic adventurous, magical and drama fueled first novel, that took me on a journey and made me wish I could just visit Kalaya…’

Seansbookreviews – ‘Reading the first two books put a smile on my face.  It is a book like no other that I have read before which is saying something as I have read hundreds of fantasy novels.’

Radzy Writes – ‘…if you’re a fan of well crafted, elegantly cultivated novels which you can sink your teeth in for hours upon hours, I’d check this out. Likewise, fans of massive worlds such as Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings, will be very happy with the Silent Seas Chronicles.’

Day Two: Silent Sea Chronicles #blogtour #fantasy #bookreviews

It is day two of the blog tour and I’m excited to share the reviews that have come in so far for The Lost Sentinel – book 1 in my Silent Sea Chronicles trilogy.

The reviews have all been very positive and I have to admit enjoying reading what reviewers have to say – maybe a little too much! Writing is such an insular occupation, so seeing how others enjoy and connect with my characters and story is one of the most rewarding things in the world!

Before I go into one, here are some of the things the reviewers have been saying along with links to their blog posts. Please support them by liking their posts and of course sharing everything on social media. I’d love to reach some new readers during the tour.

Here goes…

Jessica Belmont‘I highly recommend checking this one out. It’s addictive, fast-paced, with some really fantastic world-building. I can’t wait to continue in this series!’

Cheryl’s M & M Book Blog‘It’s high fantasy with solid world-building and an interesting set of characters.’

K T Robson‘With all the intricate world building, interesting characters and epic journey they all partake in, this book had me glued to it from the first page… Suzanne Rogerson has written a fantastic start to this series – I love her writing style, and that she doesn’t shy away from putting her characters through some tough challenges as the story progresses.’

Terror Tree‘…I got drawn into a story that gave me excitement and heartbreak… If you love fantasy and quest than pick up this series.’

Splashes into books‘A very different story, this is an intriguing, magical adventure and a great start to a new series.’

If these wonderful quotes have whet your appetite, the whole trilogy is on sale – 99p/c each during the 10 day blog tour.

Mid year update #amwriting #amwritingfantasy #indieauthor

I haven’t been around on social media as much as I’d like as I’ve been juggling writing projects. I hope things will calm down once my latest book is released on 6th July. More about that in a moment.

What I’ve been doing…

I’ve tried a few new ventures. A craft bookstall at my local high street Staines-upon-Thames, where I met some nice people and managed to sell a few books too. A couple of people bought all three of my books, which was a great boost and made the day worthwhile.

DSC_3845

I shared the stall with G.J Stevens who writes Zombie thrillers. I’ve read his debut In The End and highly recommend it. Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to share my review here at some point.

A week later, I joined forces with two authors G.J Stevens again and Katy Johnson who writes mystery thrillers and we ran a pop-up author shop in Eton high street. It wasn’t as successful as Staines, but again I met some interesting people and we hope to run the shop again in July on a couple of dates. More info will follow and I hope to get some more pictures the next time around.

DSC_3860

DSC_3863

I now feel more confidant with these type of events and have my public liability set up for a year, so I’m determined to make more use of it! Anyone know any local events we can crash?

Last week I went to Winchester Writers’ Festival and attended a fun workshop about fantasy writing run by Jasper Fforde. I also pitched a new novel idea to two agents and a publisher and received some encouraging feedback along with plenty of ideas to develop the novel. I highly recommend the day and want to thank @JunoGoldstone for showing me around and making the day less daunting.

Writing News

I’ve spent months editing and finalising Book 3 – The Sentinel’s Alliance. Now it’s just the last proofread to do before the big release day 6th July 2019! The pre-order is live, so why not make my day and pre-order a copy for only 99p worldwide.

Can new alliances save the islands of the Silent Sea from the murderers stalking their shores?

Find out in The Sentinel’s Alliance.

SALE ALERT

To celebrate this, and to kick off the 10 day review blog tour starting tomorrow (21st June), I have reduced each book in the series to 99p. That’s all three books for £2.97 – on offer worldwide. How can you resist?

I will share more news about the blog tour run by Rachel’s Random Resources tomorrow, but here’s a quick peek at all the wonderful bloggers taking part.

Silent Sea Chronicles Full Tour Banner

On the 6th July, the release day for The Sentinel’s Alliance, Rachel will also be running a one day book blitz with 32 bloggers involved. More news to follow. It will be epic!

OTHER NEWS

And onto my other big news, the audiobook for Visions of Zarua is complete and is just going through the checks by ACX. I hope to have a link to share very soon. Any audio book reviewers who enjoy fantasy and want a free code, let me know and I’ll add you to the list.

I have another very interesting project in the pipeline and good news for all the residents of Staines-upon-Thames, I’ll be appearing in a pop-up craft shop in July. I’ll cover this in another post very soon.

That’s it for my latest news, so I’ll be back tomorrow with the start of the two book blog tour. Hope you can join us.

I’ll leave you with the trailer for the audiobook. Guy Barnes, the narrator, composed the music and produced this trailer. It’s brilliant, so please share.
