I took some lovely photos on my visit to this wonderful Royal Palace over the Easter holidays. It was a great family day out, filled with history and fun.
At times I was choked thinking about the people who had lived their often short lives at the palace. I came away wanting to read and absorb every Hilary Mantel and Philippa Gregory book. I haven’t read any before, but my beta readers rave about them, and I really would like to see the past brought to life on the page. (Just bought a 4 book set of P.Gregory)
I decided to keep this post visual and use my favourite shots of the day.
Impressive outside
On the worn cobbles of the courtyard, I was transported back in time. I imaged the feet and hooves that have trodden this same path.

You had wonderful weather for your visit. I have been there a number of times. Last time there were costumed actors and actresses bringing the past to life. thank you for sharing your photos. Sue

Hampton Court was lovely, though I’d have loved to have seen the costumed actors.
We chose the best day of the week to go there, windy but nice.

Hampton Court is always worth a visit. I always imagine I see Henry V111 marching around, looking as pompous as ever. A very inspirational place…

Hampton Court is so great. I did the audio-tour …. There I met a servant who sneaked me into the building while a feast was prepared… One of my best memories of my visit in London. It was one of the days I had to leave London to get somewhere more calm. 😉

I’ve not been there yet but it looks wonderful and I’d love to go. I’m fascinated by the fact that the front and back look like they’re from different time periods, I saw a documentary on it :).
